Stumbled upon this place and it's a gem. Parking can be a bit tight but you'll find a spot. We ordered the sampler, oxtail entree, and stew chicken (dark meat) entree. Also ordered a side of plantains.
All of it was great, went back a couple days later for more stew chicken and curry chicken.
Still haven't tried the meat pie since both times they ran out. Better luck next time I guess.
Definitely check it out. -

My stomach was calling out for some Caribbean food and this was the only place that was close by and offered a sample plate of appetizers. You get garnache, 2 panades and a salbutes. These were delicious.
Devoured a meat pie and wish I would have ordered 3. Packed with flavor, these compact pies have a perfectly flaky crust, filled with ground beef that has been spiced with the flavors of the Caribbean.
The stewed chicken fell right off the bone. The sauce was amazing and the chicken was flavored all the way through. Even though I didn't get a combo plate I was still pretty full by the end of the meal without feeling too heavy. -

3.5
I can't fault the restaurant for my ignorant ordering, but the service was unhelpful.. Belizean Paradise is a bright, little Belizean/Caribbean restaurant attached to a hotel on La Brea in Hollywood. It's PiDay so I ordered a meat pie $1.75 and I got a side of Pigtails $6.75 for a total of $9.31 w/ tax.
Quick Tips:
-Street and neighborhood parking only. Not terrible. Might have to walk.
-A good amount of seating inside for a small restaurant. Six 4top booths and two 2tops
-Order/pay at the counter or just sit down and they bring you a menu
-Lunch Specials (no substitutions)
-Next time I'll get the fried fish.
-Also for next time, get the appetizer sampler.
Taste
Meat Pie 4/5
Although the meat pie was fresh, it was 80% pie crust and 20% meat. Fluffy and well cooked. For $1.75 it wasn't bad at all.
Pigtails 2.5/5
I got a side of pigtails because I thought, nah, I don't want rice and beans. Not only were they too salty and sauceless, these pigtails were 90% fat. Pure fat. She was nice to give me some gravy, but I'm still hungry.
Price 4/5
Good pricing for the area. If you order the right thing.
Service 3/5
The lady who I ordered from was nice, but she didn't help me. I told her it was my first time and thought only a side of pigtails would suffice, but I was not warned about how insubstantial this dish would be. Wish she could have also been a little more empathetic too. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The tiny bit of meat inside the meat pie was flavorful.
